This cataloging workflow was created by the Queens Memory Project, a collaboration of the Archives at Queens Borough Public Library and the Queens College Department of Special Collections and Archives. The Queens Memory Project site uses CollectiveAccess for displaying its collection of items.

The Queens Memory team created a simplified version of its full cataloging guide for a collaborative project with 14 and 15 year olds from the Greater Ridgewood Youth Council participating in a youth employment program. The teens conducted a community documentation project about Ridgewood, Queens. The participants received training in oral history, digitization and cataloging, and were given limited back-end access to the Queens Memory catalog. The teens digitized photographs and recorded oral histories, and then cataloged each item. Records were reviewed by Queens Memory staff and then made public.
